Indie Folk Artist Antonio Lopez Set to Release New Album: Here We Are

Indie-folk artist Antonio Lopez recently spoke about his new album, saying, “Just beyond our fears is where our dreams reside. They exist outside our comfort zone. I named this album Here We Are to remind myself that the best way to get there is by being present in the here and now.” This profound insight rings true, and the highly anticipated new release by Lopez is an album that echoes these sentiments flawlessly. It explores the intimate connection of our hopes and dreams with our fears and the spaces we occupy between them. The new record is set to be released on Friday, November 3, and is sure to live up to expectations.

Lopez utilizes his distinct voice from the BIPOC community to present powerful messages related to human rights and mental health, as this album affords listeners a channel for demonstrative introspection. Here We Are is the long-awaited follow-up to his previous award-winning album Roots and Wings, and portrays numerous truths as spoken through the lens of Lopez’s indigenous Chicano roots. The time-bending record features a captivating collection of lyrically progressive songs over rock-fused rhythms overpowered by swooning Spanish guitar and marimba undulations. The added depth of Lopez’s emotional vocals ties the sound together in a way that will leave listeners exploring a soundscape of honesty and reason.

The precious integrity displayed on the new album reaches the depths of the human spirit, navigating our tendencies to dwell. Whether in regret, missed opportunities, nostalgia, or attempts to envision forthcoming events, most of us are continuously wrapped up in living in the past or future. As mentioned earlier, the album’s title is a gentle testament to the benefits of remaining present, living in the here and now.

However, this nudge is not saved for the album’s name alone but also surfaces as the theme to songs such as “The Future is Now.” While the significance of remaining present in our thoughts and actions is a consistent message throughout the new album, Lopez visits other themes, such as finding yourself through the murky waters of doubt and fear, and the group only exemplifies the power of unity.

Speaking about making the album with his group, Lopez said, “Part of finding yourself is finding your people. Each of my bandmates brings something unique to the table. At our best, we transcend individual performance, building team confidence.” The new album is evidence of his words as it showcases a phenomenal collaborative effort.

Together, Lopez and his bandmates, Chad E. Mathis, Christopher Scott Wright, and Jonathan Sadler, have crafted a record that genuinely offers an outlet for expression and engagement with the present along a journey to self-discovery. The sound and lyrics on Here We Are have been exceptionally sculpted as an invitation for listeners to see themselves reflected on each track, created by an artist fighting his ego and weaving through the various highs and lows of life. Antonio Lopez will be playing a one-time album release show, scheduled to be hosted on Friday, November 3, at Swallow Hill Music in Denver.
