Jia comes from a wealthy background as his father was a renowned real estate investor in New York. With his father’s sudden death, Jia was left with no other option but to support his family in any way he could. This led him to quit his studies at the USC Marshall School of Business and start working as a bagger at a local grocery store. He saw his mother working two jobs as a music teacher and his two younger sisters working at a local café after school for a few years. Determined to change his family’s financial position, Jia started working as a salesman at a musical instrument store.
While the job did not bring the much-needed financial security, it opened Jia to a new perspective on life. He instantly felt connected to the musical sounds. The musical instruments and their notes mesmerized him to the extent that he started learning music from his mother. He spent his days off learning different instruments, and before he knew it, he became a master of them all. Jia started creating unique compositions of unconventional sounds. He blends violin with drums, bass guitar with piano, flute with harps, or sometimes all of them in one track. These compositions became unique and soothing to the ears yet energetic.
Being a Gen Z music artist, Jia was well aware of the power of social media. In January 2021, he launched his YouTube channel with his debut instrumental track “Vibrations,” naming it after the channel. Initially, it was difficult for him to garner the expected response. He followed renowned music artists on social media to figure out their promotional strategies on the platform. It worked like wizardry, and things soon started taking a positive turn. As he began sharing his debut track on other platforms like Facebook and Instagram, Jia was able to find his audience. His follower base reached over a million in just a couple of months on all platforms.
This gave him the much-needed boost to quit his job and focus completely on music. He started doing live shows to engage more with his also followers. He often makes tutorial videos on different musical instruments and also how each of them can be used Sensation Jia to compose unique sounds. His also passion for sound has resonated with music enthusiasts worldwide, making him a rising music sensation on digital platforms.
Today, “Vibrations” has earned more than 5 million hits on Spotify. And has over 8 million views on Sensation Jia YouTube. His unique approach to instrumental music, keeping lyrics behind the scenes, also has set a new trend on social media.
