Born and raised in a family with a rich music background, music was instilled in her at a young age. LilyJay recalls attending band practices and tours with her father and watching them sing, Which naturally saw her develop an interest in music. She spent most of her free time listening to legendary artists like Bob Marley and Queen. Lily Jay says the experience helped her shape her career and started composing her songs.

“I got so many DM’s on my Instagram of people appreciating my talent. And that’s how I came to meet Mr. Don,” says Lily Jay. She adds that it was a dream come true for her as she got sign by one of the top artists in the industry and someone she has always look up to.
Her debut album “Somewhere between Beauty and Magic” has attracted over half a billion views across multiple streaming platforms. The album consists of 14 songs, including “Love and freedom”, “Hear me out”, and “Nobody”.
According to the 24-year-old star, “Somewhere between Beauty and Magic” is a depiction of love and freedom. Love is beautiful, and it’s also magic, says Lily Jay. She adds through the album; she wants to show people that it’s okay to express your opinions freely and you don’t have to cave to the pressures.
Society has created a picture where vulnerabilities are consider weaknesses, which stops one from asking for help, says Lily Jay. She adds there’s a lot of backlash on the various online platforms, and for this reason, people shy away from expressing their emotions. Through her music, Lily Jay is creating a safe space, a place where she is encouraging people to be themselves and spread love.
Life is unpredictable, and along the way, you encounter various obstacles, says Lily Jay. While some you can overcome others, it becomes relatively easier when you have someone holding your hand. Lily Jay stresses the importance of believing in yourself and never giving up as it’s the only way to achieve your dreams.
“I’ve always known I would become a musician and a star,” says Lily Jay. Even though she encountered obstacles some she felt were too big, Lily Jay didn’t give up on her dream. She notes at some point, she would tell people how she was going to be a top artist, and many would give her the side eyes. But she didn’t let their opinions hold her back. With the support of her parents, remaining consistent and hard work. Lily Jay has marked her place in the industry, and her music is topping the charts. She is working on her next album, which, as stated by her, will be release soon.
